Precious Plastic

Ross Harding, Bjorn Rust and Pino Demaio were chatting to us about a project for a hairdressing company who wanted some kind of sustainable element to a new retail venture and it was suggested we consider Precious Plastic as a way to handle recycling plastic shampoo bottles. We looked into it and really liked the concept and especially their Open Source / Creative Commons approach to sharing the design of the system. So as a bit of a workshop project we have started making some of the machines with the idea that we’ll find someone soon that will be interested in working together on creating a small recycling plant. We think its ideal as a school program where plastic drink bottles can be quite easily turned into useful products to sell for fundraising or to be used by the wider school community.
